Deerfield field hockey hosted Williston on our home turf on Wednesday. Williston always has a talented squad, and the Deerfield team was excited for a good afternoon match-up. Deerfield came out strong and fast from the first whistle and scored the first goal only three minutes into the half. Sydney Cresta ’20 found the back of the net and put Deerfield ahead by one. While there were several opportunities, Deerfield was not able to capitalize again for another twenty minutes. Christina Halloran ’20 tipped a shot in the circle and DA lead Williston by two at the half. Lucy Miquel ’20 scored twice more during the second half to solidify the lead while Liv Mikesell ’20 made seven saves in the goal. While Williston had 8 offensive corners, the score remained 4 – 0 when the game ended. Next, Deerfield plays Choate at home on Saturday.
