Soccer, Girls: Junior Varsity defeats Brattleboro HS

Event Details

The rain held off just long enough for DA to get in a good game against Brattleboro High School. Despite having a short bench, the Colonials did a good job of starting strong, and within the first three minutes, there were two corners and some good offensive chances. Luckily our defenders, and our keeper, Kat Hioe ’20 came up with some big saves. The rest of the half was very evenly matched, and spent in the midfield, with Deerfield unable to produce any threat offensively. Eve Andon ’23 had a beautiful long goal from outside the box, to end the half with Deerfield 1-0, on our beautiful new scoreboard.

In the second half, Deerfield came out very strong, from the energy on the field to the energy on the bench, beginning with the half time chant. The entire second half was spent in the offensive end, with very few shots for Brattleboro, while Deerfield peppered the net with 15 shots, resulting in two goals. First Emma Tennant ’21 got a goal and was shortly followed up by Kiki Brainard ’22 who shot a long ball over the keeper’s head. Deerfield ended the game 3-0, just as the rain began. We hope for better weather on our big game against Exeter during Parents Weekend!
