Cycling, Coed: Varsity vs. Proctor Circuit Race

Event Details

After a rough start to the season with wretched weather conditions as well as a few bumps and bruises out on the road, three “A” cyclists headed up to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the opening race of the season.  The race involved a circuit race around the Speedway’s “road course, a circuit that takes place primarily on the main oval course but also a quick trip out of the stadium up a short climb, hairpin turn and descent back on to the NASCAR track.  During the first lap, four cyclists from Killington Mountain School broke away with Alex Weinman ’19 and left the main field in their dust.  KMS races year-round as a “cycling school” and Alex has only been out on the road training for the past two weeks but he held his own for most of the race as they gained a 2 minute advantage on the field.  Ultimately, Alex lost contact with the group and was passed by an attacking rider from Hanover but he stayed 1 minute ahead of the field to finish in a strong 6th place!  Geraci ’19 and Wurts ’21 finished with the main group and placed 14th and 23rd respectively.  The race was a strong start to the year and we’re looking forward to the Holderness Road Race on April 25th!
