In their first official game of the season, the girls varsity basketball team traveled to Northfield Mount Hermon on Wednesday. Though they started the game with confidence and strong defense, DA was not able to put the ball in the basketball to keep up with NMH’s unrelenting scoring. Deerfield was plagued with turnovers, while NMH scored many easy buckets on transition. NMH did try to put on a full court press in the middle of the first half, which Deerfield easily broke. They did not press again for the rest of the game. In the second half, Deerfield took better care of the ball, but it was not enough to overcome NMH’s impressive shooting and fast-paced play. Emma Reavis led Deerfield with 14 points and 3 blocks. NMH’s Silke Milliman had a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Annabelle Larnard added 18 points.
