This Wednesday, Deerfield Academy secured a home victory against a solid team from The Westminster School, 48-17. The Green used its height and athleticism to secure defensive rebounds and to push the ball in transition. The contest opened with Deerfield going on an 18-0 run before Westminster settled into the game. Westminster senior guard Becca Gavel played notable basketball, splashing three three-pointers while tallying a game-high 11 points. The Green, nonetheless, played up-tempo basketball with relatively few turnovers that resulted in each player making her way into the scoring column. With sustained defense, strong rebounding, and judicious shot selections, the Big Green improved its record to 9-5. Deerfield concludes its 2017-2018 with a Friday night home tip against Choate (7-6).
