The Deerfield girls continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Phillips Andover Academy. Trisha Boonpongmanee posted her second straight 3-0 victory at the number one position. Gigi Deinard earned a decisive 3-0 win as well. Sydney Gregg defeated her opponent in a back and forth matchup, ultimately winning 3-1. Grace Russells 3-0 win was extremely well-earned, defeating her opponent 10,10, 6. Sophia Genender earned her second win of the season with a 3-1 victory. Hers was an impressive win as she lost a tough game 14-12 before closing out the win in a fourth game. Karen Trovamala’s match was a marathon. After fighting to the final game, Karen fell to her Andover opponent 2-3. Despite the outcome, Karen’s match was the competitive highlight of the day. Fernanda Ponce added an exhibition victory at number eight, winning 3-0. The team demonstrated great sportswomanship and spirit.The team has this Wednesday off and will be back on the courts for the first home match of the season on Saturday versus the Taft School.
