Cycling, Coed: Varsity vs. KMS Hillclimb

Event Details

Wednesday’s weather was sunny and warm(ish) as we packed up the van and headed north.  Injuries and the US History AP exam decimated our numbers so Alex Weinman and Teddy McCarthy were the only cyclists to tackle the menacing hillclimb of Killington.  As we drove north, the weather turned more turbulent and we all sat shivering at the start line, waiting for our race against the clock.  In a time trial, every cyclist is racing against the clock as opposed to a mass start race.  Teddy worked hard and put up a solid time.  Alex put in an exceptional time given the strong headwind and was only beaten by members of the KMS squad, a team that trains and races year-round as a cycling “academy”.  Alex extended his overall lead for the New England individual champion, so it was a W in my book!
