Hockey, Boys: Varsity loses to Northfield Mount Hermon

Event Details

This Wednesday the boys varsity hockey team traveled to Northfield Mount Hermon School coming off a win versus Groton. Unfortunately, some sloppy play in the opening minutes from the Deerfield squad allowed for an early first period goal for NMH on their power play. After senior captain Tommy Craft ’18 went down with a shoulder injury, fellow senior Patrick Logan ’18 stepped up with an admirable effort throughout the remainder of the opening frame. Finding themselves in a 2-0 hole, the boys gained some momentum during the second period and maintained a scoreless second period thanks to key saves by Thomas Gale ’19. Looking for a comeback in the third period, the boys came strong on the forecheck. Halfway through the period, Milo DeFay ’18 put one on the board for Deerfield, assisted by Sasha Shogren ’18, and Mikey Holland ’19. The team was unable to keep up the momentum, and NMH closed the game with another two goals during the last couple minutes of play. The boys aim to bounce back from this 4-1 loss this Saturday when they face off versus rival Choate.
