Volleyball: Varsity loses to Choate

Event Details

For our annual rivalry matchup that is Chaote Day, Choate made their way up to Deerfield for a day full of school spirit and competition for both schools. Volleyball plays the first varsity game of the day, and for this reason we had a large number of fans that were able to come out and support! Thank you to all of our Deerfield friends and family for showing up, or tuning in to the live stream.

Before the game we honored our five seniors: Julie Bewkes, Uwa Ede-Osifo, Imani Kindness-Coleman, Jill Carroll and Kiana Rawji. This group of girls have been incredible leaders for us this season. Thank you, seniors, for making this year so special!

Deerfield and Choate battled through three hard-fought sets, filled with extended rallies, excellent hitting, and incredible energy. The gym was packed to capacity, which was incredibly fun and presented a little bit of a challenge. The girls on both sides played with intense focus. The beginning of each set saw Deerfield go back and forth trading points. The Deerfield girls played one of the best games of the season. Our serve receive was impeccable, which allowed us to create a great offense. Ultimately, Choate was able to put up a few more blocks, and go on runs with some great serving towards the end of each set. The match ended up with a score of 3-0 favoring Choate, but Deerfield walked away from the game feeling good about the way that they played, and about the season.

This season the Big Green squad improved tremendously, and had copious amounts of fun while doing it. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, and to the girls who worked incredibly hard. With 10 returning players next season, we look forward to getting back on the court next fall.
