The big green came out flying in their first home match in over a month. The girls could do no wrong in the first set, serving tough and hitting +0.625 as a team. Camila Navarro ’20, our MVP of the game, hit +0.750 in this set, followed closely by Georgia Quesnelle ’19 who hit +0.571. Jill Carroll ’18 led the team in digs as Deerfield’s defense was unstoppable. Hotchkiss, however, missed 7 serves and only 5 kills. Deerfield won 25-13, and the Deerfield Girls knew that Hotchkiss would come out fighting in the next set.
Deerfield continued to play strong through the next three sets, but Hotchkiss had some key servers and hitters that turned up the heat. Hotchkiss won the match with close scores of 23-25, 24-26, and 21-25. Deerfield battled throughout the entire match, coming up with points in high pressure situations. The girls took some great steps forward today, regardless of the loss.
