Cycling defeats Profile Road Race

Event Details

The squad headed north to Franconia knowing they had work to do.  The boys were coming in to the race 30 points down on the Profile School in the Boy’s Class A division heading in to the last race of the season.  While the team had benefited greatly from Liam’s strong performances, we knew it would have to be a full team effort given our deficit and the fact that the race counted “double points”.  Max Geraci ’19 attacked right off the line and managed to hold off the field for a full four miles, he had fun attacking and was a highlight for his year.  Julian O’Donnell ’18 had high hopes for the race but a mechanical issue put him off the road early in the race, however, he fought hard and earned invaluable points for the team.  Alex Weinman ’19 had the race of his life!  He held on over the first major climb of the day with the leading chase group and held their wheel to the finish line.  His fourth place finish was a key factor in our come from behind victory!  Finally, Liam Holowesko ’18 attacked the field on the first climb and dropped all but one competitor.  He then attacked again a few miles later before soloing to a well earned victory on the day.  Liam was the first freshman to win the overall New England title last year and he repeats to become the first ever sophomore to win the overall!  Congrats to the boys on a fantastic season, it’s been a joy to work with such talented athletes!
