Field Hockey: Varsity defeats KUA

Event Details

Varsity field hockey vs. KUA  (Wednesday, October 12)

On Wednesday, the varsity girls took on Kimball Union on our home turf under blue skies and sunshine.  Returning to the game field for the first time since the Kent game, the girls were determined to demonstrate that they had learned valuable lessons and solidified some defensive skills in practice.  The coaches were hoping to hear better communication and see improved movement off the ball.  While the field was quiet on both sides, Deerfield held the ball in their offensive end for much of the game.  KUA’s defense did a nice job keeping the ball out of the net, but an offensive push that began with Erin Tudryn ’18 and finished with a ball in the net from Mimi Pastor ‘19 left the score at half-time at 1- 0.  A second goal after the half came from Cornelia MacKay ‘18 who found an open corner of the net on an offensive corner.  After a long bus ride and a tough week, KUA played with poise and heart and kept the score at 2-0 for the remainder of the game.  DA looks forward to their next contest on Saturday against Loomis (in front of parents and friends on parents weekend).
