Cycling defeats Gould Road Race–Grafton Notch Challenge

Event Details

The boys headed out on a wet Friday afternoon for a big weekend of racing.  It started with a soggy circuit race in Hartford, CT where the boys opened up their legs against a stacked junior field, a good experience for all four boys but nothing to write home about in terms of results.  The squad then loaded up the van and headed north to Franconia, NH for an evening of rest before departing for Newry, ME.  The squad watched a thrilling stage of the Giro D’Italia in the morning and headed east to Maine, inspired to climb as fast as the pros across the Atlantic.  The race was a slow one for the first ten miles, a good thing since Liam had to get off his bike four times to tweak his bike which had a wheel rubbing on the frame.  While he wasn’t able to fix the bike, Liam attacked the field nonetheless and was able to gap the field with a strong effort, finishing it off with a winning effort.  Max and Julien finished well and Alex had a fantastic sprint to finish sixth on the day.  Deerfield leads the season standings by a small margin and will go in to the New England Championships with a few teams breathing down our necks, fingers crossed for Wednesday!
