Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Big Green came out strong against Taft on Saturday afternoon. We controlled much of the play in the first period, as the line of Kayla O’Connor ’14, Katherine Jackson ’15 and Meghan Halloran ’17 was flying, moving the puck well down low and peppering the Taft goal with shots. However, it was Taft who would score first, capitalizing on a power play opportunity. The second period was slower, as our legs did not have the same jump as in the first period, and Taft was able to extend their lead off of a scrum in front of the net. The third period came down to special teams, as we did not make good use of our power play opportunities, and then took three penalties in a row in the middle of the period. Despite extensive pressure in the Taft end, their goalie held strong, and we were unable to find the back of the net. Emily Yue ’16 played well in goal with 24 saves, and Taylor Morash ’16 created several solid scoring opportunities. Many thanks to the Lineberry family for the delicious spread of sandwiches and other treats after the game.
