On a warm and breezy day the JV traveled to Easthampton to play the Williston JV. The girls dominated play most of the day but had difficulty finishing against a well organized and resilient Williston crew. There were long stretches of good passing and possession leading to offensive opportunities, but the half-time score was only 1-0. And, sure enough, shoddy team defense allowed a Williston break right up the middle and some fine combination work saw the blue girls even the score. DA JV has plenty of firepower, however, and soon enough applied a good deal of sustained pressure, made some good chances, and finally got ahead again. Flank play improved and the middle opened a bit, just enough. Williston would not quit, however, and on one of their sorties from their half up our left flank they were able to hit a hard low cross that hit a DA defender in the legs and caused an own goal. Back to work for the girls in green who re-applied pressure, made several more good chances, and eventually knocked home the winner on a flurry in the Williston penalty area that came to one of ours on the far post. We will get back to work at defensive discipline and try to get the clean sheet again going forward.
