Tommy began his coaching journey with the Deerfield Water Polo boys’ & girls’ teams in the Fall of 2021. He quickly became enthralled with the role, worked as the assistant coach for both teams, and is now overjoyed to be in his inaugural season as Head Coach of the boys.
Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, he found water polo at age 12 through his future high school’s club program, Cardinal & Gold. He played goalkeeper for Calvert Hall for four years before going on to play at the D1 level for Iona University in Westchester, New York. After years of managing restaurants in NYC, coordinating weddings in a historic farming district of Western Massachusetts, and spending summers counseling kids at a wilderness camp in Vermont, he now has his sights set on a Masters in School Counseling.
Tommy is steadfast in his belief that team sports not only help to shape a person’s character, but also offer an opportunity for community and camaraderie unlike any other. He knows from personal experience that these lessons are invaluable and feels privileged to have the responsibility of fostering a familial environment focused on support and positivity.
