Becca was born a “fac brat” and spent her first eight years of life at Deerfield. Having left the Pioneer Valley for about twenty years, she’s now back on campus as a faculty member, and is excited to have returned. Becca attended Bowdoin College and received an undergraduate degree in sociology and Africana Studies. She then moved to the West Coast and taught middle school history at the Lakeside School. After two years in the Pacific Northwest she returned to the East Coast and earned a master’s degree from Brown University in American Civilization and one from Boston College in history. Becca then returned to the classroom. At Beaver Country Day School she taught various history courses ranging from the History of the Middle East to Black Intellectuals to World History in the 20th Century. In the past she’s coached soccer, squash, and Ultimate Frisbee, and is happy to be coaching squash and softball at Deerfield. Becca said although Deerfield is definitely different than it was when she was a kid, she couldn’t be happier to be back.
