Raising the bar.

Athletics

Athletics play a big role in our students’ lives at Deerfield Academy. We believe the quality of our interscholastic and recreational programs can offer our students the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills and instill important life skills including discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and humility. These skills complement what Deerfield students are already receiving in their classes. It is a goal of this department to have every Deerfield graduate leave here with a desire to lead a rewarding and active life.

Go Green!

Deerfield prides itself on giving students great opportunities to excel with 60 interscholastic team offerings throughout the year and a wide range of recreational activities each term. We value good coaching, high levels of participation and commitment to fair play and good sportsmanship regardless of the sport or level.

Who we play

We are a member of the Eight Schools Association that includes Choate, Hotchkiss, Lawrenceville, Northfield Mount Hermon, St. Paul’s, Phillips Andover, and Phillips Exeter. We also regularly compete against Loomis Chaffee, Taft, Westminster, Avon Old Farms, Greenwich Academy and Nobles. In all our interscholastic sports we compete at the Class A or Division I level in New England Prep School Athletic Conference competitions.

In recent years, boys and girls teams have won New England Championships in alpine skiing, lacrosse, swimming, track, tennis, water polo and squash, and our rowing teams have achieved national success. We value good coaching, high levels of participation and a commitment to fair play and good sportsmanship regardless of the sport or level.

Tradition of Excellence
