Asian American Footsteps Conference

AAFC 2018 | Deerfield Academy

Sunday, April 8, 2018

Deerfield Academy warmly invites Asian, Asian American, and mixed-heritage Asian students attending independent secondary schools in New England to AAFC 2018!

Keynote Speakers

Wong Fu Productions, 2018 keynote speaker for Asian American Footsteps Conference

The Asian American Footsteps conference, hosted by Deerfield Academy, is thrilled to present Wesley Chan and Philip Wang, two of the co-founders of the Asian American filmmaking company, Wong Fu Productions, as our  keynote speakers.

The work of Wong Fu Productions has been featured at national and international film festivals and runs the gamut from short film commercials for well known brands like Subaru to music videos to full length films; their YouTube channel has over 3 million subscribers.  Much of their work features Asian-Americans in relatable and universal situations and stories – accounting for the broad universal appeal.

We hope that you can join us on Sunday, April 8, to see and hear more from this ground breaking media and entertainment group.

Call For Presenters

Want to be a presenter? Now’s your chance! Why not propose a presentation or workshop at AAFC 2018 in an area of study or an interesting personal journey? Team up with a classmate (s) or adult(s), or present solo.

Presentations/workshops should be engaging, interactive (not a seminar), and 50 minutes in length, ending slightly early to allow for passing time.

Submit your proposal and ideas here by Thursday, February 15, 2018. Presenters will be selected and notified no later than February 28, 2018.

Asian, Asian American and mixed-heritage Asian students attending independent secondary schools in New England are invited for a daylong series of empowering workshops, activities and networking opportunities. This conference provides Asian, Asian American and mixed-heritage Asian students with a space to explore issues specific to their experiences.

Previous Conference Goals (2017):

  • Inspire youth to embrace their identity and culture;
  • Educate students through stimulating workshops and speakers;
