Video and Photography classes are particularly prolific at Deerfield. Students enjoy a variety of work methods and subjects–ranging from studio work using supplemental lighting to shoots in the local community. Photo students work on projects which explore both breadth and depth in their photography–preparing them for advanced placement work if they desire. Video work ranges from documentary shorts to feature-length, cinematic pieces. Many students pursue independent video and photo work at Deerfield.
Students work with digital SLR cameras for both still and video photography, and they have access to advanced tools for audio and video editing. Deerfield’s arts center includes a wet darkroom for those students who wish to explore more traditional methods. Student work is often exhibited within the arts center—and video projects are often shown to the entire community at School Meeting.
