Erika Shelburne joined the Advancement staff at Deerfield Academy in April 2018, taking on a newly created role focused almost exclusively on alumni and families living outside of the United States. Erika travels the world to bring the Academy closer to alumni and parents while helping to secure resources for Deerfield’s important funding needs and building projects.
Prior to Deerfield, she was part of the Amherst College Advancement Office for over 11 years, where she served most recently as Director of Principal and International Giving. While serving as Director of Leadership Giving, she played a leadership role in the $500 million Lives of Consequence campaign.
Before arriving at Amherst College in 2007, Erika worked for 10 years at her alma mater, Hollins University, serving as Director of the Annual Fund, Associate Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving, Director of Alumnae Relations, and Director of Development. Prior to Hollins she worked in the annual fund at Bryn Mawr College. Erika has been working in educational fundraising for more than 20 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Hollins University, where she studied Ancient Greek and Latin, and she was born and raised in Texas.
