Aurora Simionescu ’02 Becomes the First Non-Japanese Professor at Japan’s Space Institute

Aurora Simionescu ’02 is making strides in the world of science. Born in Romania, she first studied in the U.S. when selected for a one year scholarship at Deerfield. She continued her studies in the U.S. at both Harvard and Stanford and majored in astrophysics. In 2015, she was included on a list of the innovation leaders in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Most recently, she was appointed an Associate Professor at the Japanese Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). She is currently the only non-Japanese professor at this prestigious institute.
