“At the start of 2024, I had recently had a successful brain surgery to remove a benign tumor that was destroying my hearing and balance. Recovery was going great. Three weeks after surgery I was up and doing 2.5 mile walks. Then on January 7, 2024, I began having a series of at least eight strokes. I was in the hospital for almost two months before we finally diagnosed a very rare (I am case #7 ever) fungal meningitis. Medication got it under control. The rest of my year was inpatient rehab with a transfer him on Thanksgiving Day. Have had visits from Mike Nash (‘81) and David Buley (‘81). Since then I have been back in the hospital five times. Currently in hospital trying to get discharged Wednesday after they remove a filter to protect me from a blood clot a year ago. Ever the optimist, I have sign up for reunion and hope to see all my classmates there. Details at https://robsartin.com.” – Robert Sartin ’80
