Passing of classmate Donald Scott ’47

April 25, 2014

Jack Scott ’78 wrote to the class of ’47 that his father Donald A. Scott passed away on Monday April 14th in Philadelphia from complications related to his heart valve replacement back in February of this year. He wrote, “My sister Lindsay and I were at his side when he died and it was peaceful and pain free. He was alert and still thinking like a DA debater and corporate lawyer stridently defending his decision not to eat and questioning the merits of certain medical care. Many of his fondest memories were of his time at Deerfield and he was thrilled that three of his grandchildren attended (Will Scott ’10, Blair Scott ’11 and Chase Leisenring ’15) which brought him back for games and graduations. A part of him will always live on in the Pocumtuck Valley singing the Evensong, competing on the squash and t ennis courts, and keeping a watchful eye out for “the Quid”. “
