Prior to his arrival at DA, Ivory was a chemist at Merck Pharmaceutical company for nearly six years, where he led sub-teams attempting to develop medicines for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and migraine pain. Before he joined Merck he was both a doctoral student and post-doctoral researcher at MIT. There he investigated organic synthesis, metal catalysis, x-ray crystallography, functional polymers, and fluorescent molecules.
At DA he is the Academic Dean and teaches Chemistry. He thinks we learn the most by intentional practice and engaging in properly motivated creative play. He believes the most interesting and complicated problems are solved by teams and considers himself lucky to be on the same team as his wonderful wife Chrissy and mischievous and boundary-pushing daughter Sophie.
