Add an MFD – Non Standard Mac

Installing the Driver for the MFD  These instructions apply if you have a standard MacBook with OS 10.5 (or a non-standard with OS 5 or OS 6) and you want to install the Library MFD, ITS MFD or Arms MFD.  These should also be used to install the Science Office MFD on ANY standard MacBook (OS 5 or OS 6).  
PART I – Install the MFD driver software
In Finder click on GO and then select CONNECT TO SERVER and enter the following location:

smb://printers.da.edu/MacDrivers

Click CONNECT and enter your DA username and password if prompted:

Username: da/jwalsh

 Password *******

 Double click on the Xerox Print Drivers folder. Double-click on the .dmg file to run it.
  • Click CONTINUE
  • Click CONTINUE
  • Click CONTINUE
  • Click AGREE
  • Click CONTINUE
  • Click INSTALL
  • Type in your local machine password
  • Click No
  • At the Select Printer dialog box click CONTINUE without waiting for it to discover printers
  • At the Print Queue Not Created dialog box click CONTINUE
  • Click CLOSE
  • Plug in a network cable to your MAC and reboot.
Now Add the Printer…. When using one of these added printers, you will be required to enter your DA network username and password each time you print.  Please use the following format when prompted: Username:   DA\jdoe                   ß This is a back slash. Password:    ********
  1. Click on the Apple symbol
  2. Select System Preferences
  3. Double-click Print & Fax
  4. Click on the plus (+) sign below the Printers list
  5.  The Add Printer window should appear
  6.  If you see the Advanced button on the toolbar, skip to step #11.  If you don’t see it, go to step #7.
  7. While pressing the Control Button, click on the menu bar next to the search box
  8. From the pop-up menu, select Customize Toolbar
  9. Click and drag Advanced onto the menu bar
  10. Advanced should now appear on menu bar
  11. Click on Advanced
  12. Click on Type
  13. Select Windows
  14. In the URL box, enter smb://printers/Public_Koch_ITS
  15. Enter a Name and Location for the printer
  16. Click on Print Using and choose Select Printer Software.
  17. In the search bar, type in the model of the printer you’re looking for (ie: type 7545 for the Library).
  18. Select your driver from the list and click Add.
