Frankenstein – A New Adaptation by Lindel Hart

Hart, Lindel – May 7, 2014

Linda McInerney’s Old Deerfield Productions has commissioned Lindel Hart (Deerfield Academy Yoga teacher) to write and perform in an original adaptation of “Frankenstein”, with performances at the First National Bank Building on Bank Row in Greenfield, MA. Performance dates are July 14, 15, 16, 24, 25, and 26, 2014, at 8:00 pm.

This new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel will be performed by Lindel Hart as the Creature; Court Dorsey playing the roles of Victor Frankenstein, Mr. DeLacey, Elizabeth and William; and Jane Williams as Mary Shelley. The production features projection design by Florian Canga, illustrating the story through light and image and drawing parallels to our troubled present. Handheld video projectors and video installation manipulated by the character Mary Shelley will incorporate images from the Scientific Revolution of her time with present day images of genome mapping, stem cell research, quantum mechanics, chaos theory and more. Costumes and sets are by Athan Vennell, makeup by Joseph Dulude II (who designed the makeup for “Wicked” on Broadway), and lights by Matt Cowan.

By highlighting the prescience of Shelley’s novel, this production of “Frankenstein” hopes to further the process of changing our global story from one that sanctions dominance over nature to a new story of our interconnectedness that will allow the human race to thrive in respectful relationship with the planet.
