Buckling Under the Weight

David Purington – May 20, 2014

For a couple of years now, we have been collecting plastic bags and bubble wrap in the dormitories. Last summer, we got aggressive and added shrink-wrap from the dining hall loading dock. The Facilities Department recently bought a small compactor to manage the overwhelming volume we are now collecting and, in a 10-week period, we baled up 429 pounds of bags, bubbles, and shrink wrap. OK, not blown away by this number? Let’s try this a different way. This 429 pounds is the equivalent of nearly 7,000 shirt-wrapper bags from E&R. That takes dedication, folks. Good job!
