Ty McCormick ’06 to Speak

May 15, 2012

Ty McCormick, Deerfield class of 2006, will speak at 7pm on Tuesday, May 15th in the Choral Room. In just a few years after graduating from Deerfield, Ty has accomplished an extraordinary amount. After attending Stanford, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Ty became a Clarendon scholar at Oxford University and a freelance journalist/political analyst, reporting on the Egyptian 2011 protests and the development of the new Egyptian government with a grant from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. His work has been published by Newsweek, The New Republic, Foreign Policy, Al Jazeera English, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Herald, Huffington Post, Cairo Review of Global Affairs, and NPR. He has also appeared on Fox News. Thanks to Amnesty International and Mr. Thomas-Adams, Ty will speak about his experiences in Egypt, where he was on the ground for the action in Tahrir Square last spring. To learn more about Ty, visit his blog at tymccormick.com, follow him on Twitter (@TyMcCormick), and attend his lecture on Tuesday night.
