The Deerfield girls managed to squeak out four victories against division I rivals NMH, Loomis Chaffee, Taft and Hotchkiss. The girls defeated host Loomis Chafee 24 to 31, beat Taft by the slim margin of 26 to 29, defeated NMH (awaiting score), and eked a victory over a powerful Hotchkiss squad after tying 28-28 with the final decision going to the sixth runner; a contest which Deerfield happened to win with the help of Deerfield’s Madisen Siegel. Deerfield’s top runners included captain Devinne Cullinane in 4th, Phoebe Morss in 5th, Samantha Morse in 12th, Caroline Wagner in 14th, Lauren Ilsley in 18th, and Madisen Siegel, our sixth and decisive runner in 21st place. Not finishing for Deerfield’s varsity were captain Lilah Lutes with a strained calf muscle and sophomore Claire Petrus with an ailment. Next weekend the girls once take on arch rival Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT in a tri meet with Choate and Loomis. Please come cheer on the Deerfield girls as they continue their winning ways.
