Game summary, submitted by Xavier Salvador (2014)
Twas a bright and sunny day, perfect for soccer. The DA boys came out of the gate with high energy. The team possessed the ball well through the center midfielders, Max McEvoy and Zz Salvador, and found the strikers, Brendan O’Connell, Camil Blanchet, and Ian Kagame, who worked well as back boards. During the first part of the first half, Deerfield played high pressure defense which led to some opportunities in front of goal. But as the first half went on, Suffield began to win the 50/50 tackles, thus allowing them to creep further into our half. With a few goal line saves by Cole Horton, Suffield started to push DA on its heels. Deerfield conceded a goal with ten minutes remaining in the half.
Second half. Again, Suffield continued to pressure high on the DA backline, creating some close scoring chances. But on the 64th minute, Skyler Perot scored a classy AdiPure finish from a Cole Horton free kick. It was probably the most emotion the team has seen from Skyler all year. For the rest of the second half, chances went both ways. Tomas Milmo almost passed one in for DA. And the energetic Suffield striker continued to give DA problems. At the 75th minute, DA conceded another goal from a nice Suffield cross. The game would end 1-2, Suffield.
I’m proud of how DA played. We had our moments. Now all focus is on Saturday.
