Varsity Soccer (Boys) vs. Williston at Away

Deerfield Boys Varsity Soccer played at Williston and came home from the evening contest with a 3-1 victory. In the first minutes of the game Williston had its best chances, scoring off a defensive turnover in midfield and then outrunning our backs to get in on Max Chesky. Moments afterwards Max came up big on another breakaway chance and soon enough made another fine stop punching away a good aerial bid. That seemed to get the DA offense running and the equalizer came on a cross from Luke Walsh to Daniel Blohm. The second half was a hard-fought battle but DA took the game with more effective offense, scoring early on a fine Jackson Dayton goal served from Stephen Baisch and then with about 19 to play on a blast from ZZ Salvador from up top. The game was another fine team performance as the Green seem to have found the style and commitment to make other teams have to work very hard. Down early seemed not to bother the boys at all as they stuck to the plan of making every next play the most important one. The back line lost no more races, the midfield kept frustrating serving opportunities, and the offense gradually discovered ways to attack. Getting better as a team …
