Boys varsity played at home versus Wilbraham and Monson and won 2-0. The game was a bit slow at the start and neither team had much spark; Deerfield enjoyed two good chances in the first minutes but for the most part both teams seemed to be shaking the Sandy blues. The Green boys had a couple of more good opportunities later in the half; Camil Blanchet held the fort in goal and the half ended at zeroes. The second half saw a more aggressive Deerfield attack, Stephen Baisch had a terrific opportunity early and was followed moments later by Jackson Dayton. In the ninth minute of play DA had a corner that created a melee with several opportunities and finally Baisch knocked home the ice-breaker. The rest of the half saw continued fine defense from the Green and a series of good offensive opportunities; late in the game Cole Horton sent Jackson Dayton in with just the goalie to beat and he did so. Kudos to the team for waking up and eventually dominating the match; again hard work and a commitment to play by the play is yielding good results.
