Deerfield Boys Varsity Soccer opened today against Suffield on a beautiful fall day. The final score of 2-0 for Suffield reflected two goals off Suffield’s excellent long throw-in, both in the second half. Deerfield created many good offensive opportunities right to the final horn, dominating the final fifteen minutes in particular. Jackson Dayton gave a soccer recital of movement, passing and creation, sending his strikers and flanks terrific passes. The team defense operated tightly, growing as a unit as the game progressed and negating all of Suffield’s play from the field in the second half. Andrew Shediac in goal stopped two first-half breaks and several other long shots with calm and poise. A tough loss but a very positive performance from a still-forming unit.
