Deerfield won versus Hotchkiss on a beautiful fall day in the valley. The game set a determined and improving Green team versus the defending NE champions and had plenty of excitement as both teams worked hard to attack. Andrew Shediac had an extraordinary performance in goal for Deerfield, frustrating numerous excellent opportunities from the talented Hotchkiss side. Leaping, diving, reacting and moving quickly out of goal on through balls, Andrew kept the score in range for Deerfield’s offense to do its work. Even so, twice Deerfield defenders cleared the ball from goal after an initial Shediac save. Jackson Dayton returned to action for Deerfield and had two goals before injury knocked him out with about fifteen to play in a 2-2 game, but the combinations up front among Baisch, Walsh, Salvador and Blanchet finally produced the winner with just over six minutes to play. This was a magnificent team effort with noteworthy contributions from many against a strong and sporting Hotchkiss team.
