Deerfield took this game 2-1 on a lovely day in Andover. A goal from each team in the first ten minutes suggested that this game might be a high-scoring affair but both defenses held firm thereafter until Deerfield finally got the game winner with under ten to play. Both of Deerfield’s markers came on headers, the first on a fine serve from Luke Walsh to a streaking Stephen Baisch who redirected the ball back over the goalkeeper to open the scoring. The game winner game from Baisch to a Brendan O’Connell header after a strong second half of Deerfield pressure. The game saw grit and purpose from both sides, a number of closely contested plays all over the field, and difficult decisions for the referees. A very fine effort, excellent concentration, and a full ninety from the Green.
