Varsity Hockey (Girls) vs. Cushing at Away

Deerfield took on a deep Cushing squad Wednesday evening, ultimately falling 4-2. After falling behind 2-0 off of scrums in front of the net, Elana Van Arnam ’13 made an excellent play in the neutral zone to hit a streaking Katherine Jackson ’15. Though Jackson’s initial shot was stopped, Kayla O’Connor ’14 drove hard to the net and got the Big Green on the board on the rebound. Cushing was able to regain their two goal lead, but Deerfield pulled within one yet again on the power play early in the third period. Taylor Morash ’16 found O’Connor at the top of the circle, who beat her defender and put a nice shot on goal that Devinne Cullinane ’14 was able to poke home. Unfortunately, Cushing’s depth proved to be too much to overcome, as the Big Green could not quite muster the momentum to find the tying goal. Emily Yue ’16 made 21 saves for the visitors, while Deerfield fired 16 shots on the Cushing goal.
