The Big Green traveled to Wallingford, CT this afternoon to take on a very talented Choate team. Despite the score, Deerfield played a very solid three periods of hockey, but simply allowed the home team to capitalize on defensive breakdowns. Deerfield allowed two goals in each of the first two periods, before finally getting on the board in the final stanza, when Katherine Jackson ’15 put home a rebound from a Kayla O’Connor ’14 shot off of the crossbar. Both Jackson and O’Connor had outstanding games for the Big Green. This young team should be proud of their effort; they battled hard in all three zones, executed well on offense (there were several near misses), and supported each other. Emily Yue ’16 made 25 saves, while Deerfield put 15 shots on the Choate goal. Next up is New Hampton on Friday night on the road. Many thanks to the Yue family for the amazing spread of food after the game!
