Varsity Field Hockey vs. Taft at Deerfield Academy

Apologies for the quick writeup but the chaos of Parents’ Weekend has delayed the update.  Rowland Field saw an incredible match between two strong sides.  It was clear from the opening hit that both teams wanted the victory and the ball moved crisply, with purpose.  DA seemed to control the ball a bit more effectively and the first goal was scored by Growney ’13 off an assist by Gahagen ’12 to be followed by another from Growney, this time assisted by Haddad ’12.  The Taft squad fought hard throughout and is clearly a team that will see great success this fall but DA was able to pull away after a goal by Anderson ’12, assisted by Gahagen ’12.  Taft was able to score late (as they had threatened throughout) but Deerfield walked off the field with a hard-fought victory.  next up for DA is an away match in Worcester this coming Wednesday.
