Varsity Field Hockey vs. Pomfret at Pomfret

At the opening whistle, the DA girls quickly drove down in to Pomfret territory and Haddad ’12 fed Growney ’13 for the first goal of the game after only 2:59 clicks of the game clock.  After a lull in action, things started to come together late and Lytle ’15 connected off a great cross by Shilling ’14 at 3:22 remaining in the first half to pick spirits up coming in to the half.  After the half break, the Deerfield girls came out with renewed enthusiasm and spent a great deal of the half in Pomfret territory, however, Pomfret held strong and fended off the DA offense effectively due to some excellent goaltending.  After several corner plays DA found the back of the net at 3:21 remaining in the game on a goal by Shilling ’14 being repaid the favor by Lytle ’15 whom she had assisted earlier in the game.  Next up for DA is a trip to Lakeville to face the 9-time NE Champion Hotchkiss Bearcats……..
