The Girls in Green headed south on I-91 for a matchup with Loomis, a team that always presents a midseason challenge and this afternoon’s match proved to be just that. Â The DA squad controlled the ball early and Haddad ’12 scored a gritty goal 9 minutes in to the first half. Â The game continued to be evenly balanced with both sides finding scoring opportunities but strong goal-tending on both ends found goals to be hard to come by. Â DA controlled the midfield but LC had their chances and played with determination on their home turf wearing pink in honor of Play 4 the Cure, a national field hockey effort to increase awareness of breast cancer and early prevention. Â The second half saw balanced play until late in the game when Gahagan ’12 found the back of the net on a corner play with a few minutes remaining in the match. Â Team Green walked away with a well earned victory and look forward to welcoming a strong Westminster squad to Rowland Turf this coming Wednesday.
