Varsity Cross Country (Girls) Interscholastics at Andover

The Girls Cross Country team finished second today in a tightly contested New England Championships race at Phillips Andover. Although both the varsity and JV girls defeated arch rival Choate, fate smiled only somewhat approvingly on Deerfield as we ended the day the runner-up team to eventual champions Nobles. The girls were, of course, valiant on the day, turing in gutsy races all across the board; and it served them well, defeating the cream of the crop in New England prep school cross country. Lead by senior Alanna McDonough in second place overall, the girls varsity included Devinne Cullinane (8th), Lilah Lutes (14th), Olivia Mehm, (32nd), Rose Fisher (42), and Carlie Enzerra (45th). On the JV side freshman Heidi Hunt came came within seven seconds of winning the entire race, finishing second to a senior girl in a dramatic battle over the last 800m, and followed by Kylie Davis (7th), Caitlin Cleary (24th), Nahla Gedeon Achi (32nd), Camille Larmoyeaux (42), Megan Foster (57th) Maggie Morse (80th), Alice Lu (102nd), Allie Gerber (105th), and Mary Brouder (120th). I’d like to take the time to thank all the runners for their dedication and desire to do well for one another all season, and especially as the season came to an important close. I’d also like to thank the parents, grandparents and siblings who braved the long car rides and bad weather to support us. To say that there has been a lot of love on this team is a gross understatement. It’s been a wonderful fall and an absolute privilege working with these amazing girls.

Looking forward to winning next year!!!
