Off-Campus Athletics

The Deerfield crew, golf, and ski teams all practice and compete at off-campus locations even when “Home.” (Going to an “away game”? Directions from our campus to “away games” are available.)

Crew: The Hammerschlag Family Boathouse

Directions from the East: Take Route 2 West until you get to the intersection with the Barton Cove dam on your left side. You will turn left, cross over the bridge, the pass through Turners Falls. This is Montague City Road. You will cross over the Connecticut River and bear left. The road then changes its name to Cheapside Road. You will pass under two railroad bridges; after the second, you will bear left and make a left turn onto Rt. 5/10, passing over the Deerfield River. Immediately after this bridge, you will make a left onto River Road, passing again under the railroad bridge. You will follow River Road east, then south for a total of approximately four miles, and the driveway to our facility will come up on the left side. You can see our boathouse from the road.

Directions from the South: I91 North until exit 24, for Route 5/10. You will bear right at the top of the ramp, then proceed north on 5/10, PAST the Deerfield campus (on your left) (approx. seven miles), then turn right onto River Road before you cross the Deerfield River. (You will pass “The Wok”, a Chinese restaurant, on your left, a few hundred yards before the right turn to River Road.) You will follow River Road east, then south for a total of approximately four miles, and the driveway to our facility will come up on the left side. You can see our boathouse from the road.

For TRAILERS, we’d ask that you pull as far around the roundabout in front of the boathouse as you can; you can stage your boats in the large meadow on the river side of the rotary.

For BUSES and VANS, we’d ask that you turn right as you come down the driveway to the boathouse, using the parking lot on the south side of the facility.

Golf: Crumpin-Fox Golf Club

Skiing: Berkshire East

Located just 25 miles from Deerfield at 66 South River Roadd, Charlemont, MA, Berkshire East is the “home court” for our ski teams. More information about directions and accommodations can be found at the Berkshire East website.

Away Games
