Boys & Girls Squash Take Bronze at 2020 NEPSAC Class A Squash Championships

It’s all bronze for Deerfield squash! At this past weekend’s 2020 NEPSAC Class A Squash Championships the Deerfield boys squash and girls squash team each finished in third place in their respective tournaments. The boys varsity squash team traveled to Wallingford, CT for their tournament which got underway at Choate on Saturday, February 29 with their opening head-to-head quarterfinal match vs. Hotchkiss. The Big Green prevailed 6-1 over the Wildcats to advance to the semifinals.

Dr. Whitney Wood Addington ’53

Dr. Whitney Wood Addington, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago on February 10, 2020 surrounded by his family. Dr. Addington was a superb physician, healthcare leader, research scientist, and lover of the arts. He graduated from Deerfield Academy and Princeton University where he majored in English followed by medical school and residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University. Boys & Girls Squash Down St. Paul’s

Deerfield boys and girls varsity squash teams downed visiting St. Paul’s in a squash double-header in the Dewey Squash Courts on Saturday. Up first, the girls varsity squash team shutout the Big Red, 7-0. The boys varsity squash team followed suit out-matching their opponents, 6-1. On Saturday, February 1st, the girls’ varsity squash crew welcomed St. Paul’s to the Dewey Squash Center. The girls remained focused and composed and executed their game plans well. Squash, Girls: Varsity loses to Greenwich Academy

After a relatively light January of interscholastic match play, the DA girls traveled to a neutral location, Trinity College, for an afternoon of squash against Greenwich Academy on some of the top courts in the nation, including two all glass show courts. Girls Squash Shuts Out Exeter

In their first contest of the New Year, the girls varsity squash team did not show any signs of rust from the winter break by shutting out Exeter, 7-0. In the #1 spot for the Big Green, Devon L’Esperance ’22 defeated her opponent in straight games (11-4, 11-4, 11-4).
