Matthew Fox, Deerfield Class of ’85 and actor best known for his role on “Lost,” will speak at school meeting and lead acting and photography classes this week.
For the second year in a row, the boys’ varsity crew team placed at the Junior National championships. However, this year they surpassed last year’s bronze metal and took gold on June 12.
This year, for the first time Deerfield diving has a junior varsity team consisting of only three students who have been practicing with the varsity team, but participating in their own meets.
“It’s nice being on junior varsity diving because it is not as competitive or stressful as varsity but I still get to dive.”
A few lucky runners and their coach spent five days during Thanksgiving break in Dublin, Ireland, running, touring and visiting with students from St. Columba’s school.
Junior Peter Krasznekewicz has brought little, white wooden houses around campus with quotations from the works of poet Emily Dickinson written on all sides.
With such a great group of new coaches, in addition to our fabulous returners, this season is shaping to be a great one for Deerfield athletics.
As the class of 2011 graduates, it is easy to see how they are all happily looking forward to college.
