Michael Cary

English Teacher, Philosophy & Religion Teacher

After earning his AB from Bowdoin in English, his MAT from Brown in History and his MA from Yale Divinity School, Michael joined the Deerfield faculty in 1976 and worked here for close to twenty years, teaching a variety of subjects, chairing the Philosophy and Religion Department, coaching squash, and serving as the Dean of Admissions, before he left Deerfield to become Lawrenceville’s Head of School. In 2003, Mike left academia to work first as the Executive Director of the Yellowstone Park Foundation in Bozeman, Montana, and then as Director of Major Gifts at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
