Having traveled the world and the country, Nicholas Hall came to Deerfield most recently from UC Davis, where he completed his PhD in Physics. He has presented often and published many peer reviewed articles on supernovae and galaxies, his focal areas of study being “High-redshift Lyman Break Galaxies, and Dusty Star-Forming Galaxies." His doctoral dissertation topic was about pedagogy: Autonomy and the Student Experience in Physics from a Self-determination Theory Perspective. Dr. Hall went to college in America’s heartland, and has lived in countries around the world, ranging from Spain (2 years) to England (5 years) to Paraguay (2 years) and shorter stints in Vietnam, China, and Thailand. Here at Deerfield, Dr. Hall lives in Dewey and coaches Boys Jr A Soccer and Boys Fr/So Basketball.
