Mandy Irwin

Science Teacher

Mandy joined the Science Department in the fall of 2011. Mandy earned her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education in 2010 and then taught Environmental Systems and Societies at the Newman School in Boston. Before attending Boston College, Mandy taught at schools known for their global outreach programs: United World College in Montezuma, New Mexico and Ballarat & Clarendon College in Victoria, Australia. A NOLS practitioner and Wilderness First Responder, Mandy’s love of adventure was nurtured during her high school years at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School and her college years at the University of Colorado, where she graduated in 2003 summa cum laude, earning her BA in Environmental Studies. Mandy also earned a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne in Australia in 2005. Mandy’s interests in the environment, hands-on and outdoor education, and global initiatives fit well with Deerfield’s strategic plan.
