Before Karinne Heise joined the Deerfield faculty in 1988, she taught and coached at St. Andrew's School in Delaware. A magna cum laude graduate from Bowdoin College, Karinne captained the women's field hockey and squash teams during her senior year. She earned her MALS at Dartmouth College and has also taken graduate courses at the University of Wisconsin and University of Oregon. At Deerfield, Karinne teaches English, coaches soccer and squash, and lives on campus in the Saxton House with her husband, Tom, and two sons, Jack and Kurt.
