Prior to his arrival at DA, Ivory was a chemist at Merck Pharmaceutical company for nearly six years, where he led sub-teams attempting to develop medicines for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and migraine pain. Before he joined Merck he was both a doctoral student and post-doctoral researcher at MIT. There he investigated organic synthesis, metal catalysis, x-ray crystallography, functional polymers, and fluorescent molecules.
He is responsible for coordinating summer science research opportunities and was the coach for the 2011-2012 science bowl team, which had an 11-3 record. All of this is based on the strong liberal arts education he received as a student in Georgia at a fine arts magnet high school, where he was a theater major.
He lives in Doubleday II with his wonderful wife Chrissy and mischievous three-year-old daughter Sophie.
